Husband Leaves Pregnant Wife for Influencer Until Parents Deliver Wedding Photo Gift

“You left us on a nursery floor,” I said.

The line went completely quiet for three long seconds, the only sound the soft click of the baby’s pacifier falling against the plastic mattress.

“Please,” he said, his voice cracking as he began to say something else, but I pulled the phone away from my ear, my thumb hovering over the red icon.

I pressed the button, and the screen went dark.

I set the phone face down on the bedside table and did not look at it again.

I stood up slowly, the physical ache in my side reminding me of the long hours of the morning as I walked over to the armchair where my bag sat.

I reached inside and pulled out the light blue nursery blanket, its soft, familiar wool smelling faintly of the lavender paint from the house we had left behind.

I walked back to the bassinet and carefully spread the blanket over baby Joy, tucking the edges beneath her small, warm shoulders.

By eight o’clock the next morning, the smell of toasted bread filled the small kitchen of the rental cottage.
