Husband Leaves Pregnant Wife for Influencer Until Parents Deliver Wedding Photo Gift
“We only need the signature page for now,” Tilly said. “The one with the notary’s seal.”
Mr. Vance paused, looking over his half-glasses. “May I ask why?”
“We have a delivery to make,” Tilly said.
By two o’clock, we were back in the cramped kitchen of the rental cottage. The house was cold, and the single radiator under the window hissed and clanked without throwing much heat.
Tilly set her handbag on the yellow laminate table and reached inside. She pulled out the heavy silver photo frame she had bought at the department store, still wrapped in its white tissue paper.
Beside it, she laid a classic, black-and-white family photograph. It had been taken ten years ago on the beach in Traverse City, during our fifth anniversary dinner.
In the picture, Evan was standing between his parents, his arms thrown over their shoulders, laughing at something the photographer had said. He looked young, his face free of the hard, calculating look he had worn the day he walked out on us.
“He looked like his grandfather there,” Tilly whispered, her fingers touching the glass of the frame.
