Husband Leaves Pregnant Wife for Influencer Until Parents Deliver Wedding Photo Gift

I reached into my pocket and touched my grandmother’s silver ring, sliding the band up and down my finger. It was the only thing of value I had left in the house.

By one o’clock, the wind off the lake had picked up, rattling the heavy glass doors of the bank branch downtown. I stood at the counter, my winter coat zipped tight over my stomach.

Diane, the teller who had handled our car loans for a decade, smiled as she counted out a stack of deposit slips. “Afternoon, Savannah. How is the baby doing?”

“Kicking,” I said, rubbing my lower back. “I need to withdraw three hundred dollars, Diane. Just cash for groceries.”

She slid the gray plastic tray toward me. “I just need your debit card and some identification.”

I handed them over and watched her fingers fly across the black keyboard. The screen was angled away from me, but I saw the smile leave her face.

She tapped the keys again, slower this time. She looked up, her eyes moving to the young family standing behind me in line.
