Husband Leaves Pregnant Wife for Influencer Until Parents Deliver Wedding Photo Gift

The wind off Lake Michigan was cold as we drove down the highway toward the strip mall. The tires of Norman’s heavy sedan hummed against the asphalt, a steady sound that matched the quiet inside the car. Tilly had stayed behind with the younger children, leaving Norman and me to face the lawyer alone.

The law office of Attorney Vance was located in a suburban strip mall between a dry cleaner and a vacant storefront. The sign on the glass door was simple, done in gold lettering that had begun to peel at the corners. Inside, the waiting room smelled of stale coffee and old carpet, but the back conference room was different.

We sat around a heavy mahogany table that filled most of the small space. Attorney Vance, a man with sharp gray eyes and a tailored charcoal suit, turned the pages of my thin financial file with slow, methodical fingers.

“Your husband’s attorney is playing a standard waiting game,” Vance said, his voice flat and clinical. “They want to starve you out until you agree to whatever terms they offer.”
