Husband Leaves Pregnant Wife for Influencer Until Parents Deliver Wedding Photo Gift
“He took the money we saved for your college,” I said, choosing the plain truth over the gentle lies I had been telling myself. “He took eighty-two thousand dollars from the trust your grandmother set up.”
Margot did not cry. Her face went pale, her jaw tightening in a way that made her look three times her age.
“All of it?” she asked.
“Yes,” I said. “Every dollar. He transferred it to Brielle’s marketing firm three weeks before he left.”
“How are we going to pay for the house?” she asked, her eyes moving to the window that looked out on our small backyard where the younger kids were trying to build a fort out of fallen branches.
“I don’t know yet,” I said, my hand coming down to rub my lower back where the baby was kicking again. “But Norman and Tilly are helping us. Norman paid the electric bill yesterday.”
“They must hate him,” Margot said, her voice small.
“They are his parents,” I said. “But they are also your grandparents. They care about what happens to you.”
