My Husband Sold My Two Million Dollar Land For Five Dollars To His Girlfriend
I looked out the window at the red dirt pasture, where the two-year-old colts were running along the fence line, their dark coats shining in the morning light. The thought of Samuel selling my father’s horses to a buyer who would run them into the ground made my jaw tighten.
“He is not hauling anything off this property,” I said.
“The sheriff told you it was a civil dispute, Lily,” Elena said, her clipboard pressing harder against her chest. “He said until a judge rules on the deed, Samuel has as much right to the property as you do.”
“That was before we found the notary log,” I said, closing the blue ledger with a firm thud. “Get the truck keys, Elena. We are going to collect the rest of the files from the house.”
Katie was sitting at the kitchen table when I walked in, her oversized sweater sleeves pulled down completely over her hands as she stared at a stack of white papers.
“Marcus’s assistant brought these over from the county clerk’s office,” Katie said, her voice hesitant as she looked up. “They are the official public copies of the deed Samuel filed on March ninth.”
