My Husband Sold My Two Million Dollar Land For Five Dollars To His Girlfriend
“Bobby Miller is a smart deputy,” Marcus said, his voice carrying the dry, formal weight of a man who spent forty years in courtrooms. “He knows a deed is only as good as the agreement behind it, Lily. And Samuel forgot about this.”
He slid the papers across the desk toward me. My own signature stared back at me from the bottom of the third page, dated exactly three years ago, right around the time Samuel had asked for a loan to expand his commercial leasing office in town.
“I remember signing this,” I said, my thumb brushing the blue paper. “Samuel said it was a standard disclosure for the bank.”
“It was a postnuptial agreement,” Marcus said, leaning forward. “Your father made sure I drafted it before he allowed Samuel’s name onto any of our corporate tax filings. If either party attempts to transfer, sell, or otherwise encumber the real property of Brennan Ranch without written, notarized consent from both spouses, the entire interest in the land reverts solely to the non-violating party.”
Elena leaned over my shoulder, her eyes scanning the legal paragraphs. “Does that mean the transfer to Lisa Hawthorne is invalid?”
