My Husband Sold My Two Million Dollar Land For Five Dollars To His Girlfriend

“Samuel told me the ranch accounts were temporarily frozen,” I said, trying to keep my voice calm. “I didn’t know he had stopped your tuition payments.”

“He didn’t just stop them,” Katie said, finally looking at me with red, swollen eyes. “He told me he couldn’t pay them unless I did something for him.”

She pulled her hands out of her sleeves, her fingers twisting together.

“He said the ranch was in trouble because of the taxes,” Katie whispered, her voice cracking. “He told me we would lose everything if I didn’t get you to sign those papers at the derby party.”

The air between us seemed to grow heavy, the silence of the yard pressing in.

“What did he ask you to do, Katie?” I asked, my heart dropping.

“He gave me the document folder and told me to put it in with the guest list signatures,” Katie said, a small sob escaping her. “He said you were too stressed to read through it, and that if I helped him get your signature, my tuition would be fully paid through graduation.”

She looked at me, her face pale.
