My Husband Sold My Two Million Dollar Land For Five Dollars To His Girlfriend

Robert sighed, his fingers tracing the edge of his desk blotter. “Normally, an audit of this scale takes several weeks, Lily. But your father was a good friend to this institution, and I will not see his legacy dragged through the mud.”

He pulled up a spreadsheet on his computer screen and turned the monitor toward me.

“Samuel made three large withdrawals last month,” Robert said, pointing to a column of red numbers. “The largest was forty-two thousand dollars, wired directly to a luxury dealership in Dallas.”

I stared at the numbers on the screen. “Forty-two thousand dollars from the livestock feed fund.”

“The transaction was cleared with his signature alone,” Robert said. “But he used the ranch’s tax identification number to secure the line of credit for the car.”

I looked at the blue ledger in front of me, realizing how easily he had slipped the money out from under my nose while I was busy in the breeding barn.

“I need a certified copy of that wire transfer, Robert,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper. “And every other transaction over five thousand dollars for the last year.”
