Redstone Construction CEO Learns About Blue Envelope in Hospital Recovery Room

I went into the kitchen and turned on the overhead lights. The granite countertops were clean, the copper pots hanging from the rack above the island reflecting the soft light.

I pulled two cardboard boxes from the closet and set them on the hardwood floor. They were standard moving boxes from the office, marked with the Redstone logo on the side.

“Do you want me to pack the closet or the dresser?” Mia called from the stairs.

“The closet,” I said. “Her dresses are still in the garment bags.”

I began with the small writing desk in the corner of the kitchen, where Nicole kept the folders for the house accounts. There was a stack of unopened mail sitting near the telephone, mostly bills and advertisements for landscaping services we would no longer need.

I sorted through them quickly, throwing the circulars into the recycling bin and setting the bills in a neat pile to take to the office. At the bottom of the stack was a small, white card from the country club, notifying us that our membership had been suspended pending the resolution of the legal proceedings.
