Redstone Construction CEO Learns About Blue Envelope in Hospital Recovery Room

“Mia, you don’t know the whole story,” I said, my voice tightening.

“I know what I see,” Mia said. “You barely speak to her. You sleep in the guest room half the time, and when you are in the same room, you treat her like an employee.”

“That is not true,” I said, though my hand moved to my water glass.

“It is true,” Mia said. “You’re letting your stress from the RiNo project ruin this family.”

The accusation sat on the table between us, heavy and cold. Nicole reached over and patted Mia’s hand, her face a mask of gentle, suffering concern.

“Don’t worry, sweetheart,” Nicole whispered. “Your father is just tired. The recovery process takes longer than people think.”

“He’s not just tired,” Mia said, pushing her chair back from the table. “He’s being paranoid and mean.”

She stood up, leaving her plate untouched, and walked out of the dining room.

Nicole looked at me across the empty chair, her eyes steady. “She’s right, Robert. You’re pushing everyone away.”
