“You need help, Robert,” she said, her voice dropping to that quiet, practiced softness.
“I am perfectly fine,” I said, using the precise construction terms that usually kept my world ordered. “My physical recovery is on schedule. The incision is fully closed.”
“I’m not talking about your abdomen,” she said, turning around to face me. “I’m talking about your mind. You haven’t been sleeping.”
“I have a company to protect,” I said.
“You check the security cameras, you ask Brandon strange questions about the company insurance, and you treat me like an enemy,” she said.
“I am just trying to understand the sudden changes in our accounts,” I said.
