“I can handle the tuition from our personal checking, Nicole,” I said.
“Our checking is low this month because of the insurance deductible,” Nicole said, her voice remaining perfectly calm. “The reserve account is much simpler. We can always pay it back later.”
“That is not how we run the corporate books,” I said. “The reserve is for steel orders and subcontractor retainage. Not personal bills.”
Nicole reached for her water glass, her fingers tracing the rim. “It’s a temporary transfer, Robert. We’ve done it before when we were waiting on the bank draws for the Cherry Creek renovations.”
“We did it once, and it took three months to reconcile,” I said. “Brandon had to file a manual adjustment.”
“Brandon worries too much,” Nicole said, taking a sip of water. “He’s always looking for problems where they don’t exist.”
“He is looking out for the firm,” I said.
