“No,” Nicole said. “He is looking at the accounts. He asked about the wire transfers to the consulting firm.”
“Then we change the timeline,” Mercer said. “We do not wait for the trip.”

“What about the girl?” Mercer’s voice asked on the tape. “If we move too fast, she might start asking her own questions about her trust fund.”
“Mia will believe whatever I tell her,” Nicole said, her voice coming through the speaker without a single tremor. “She is a useful shield right now. She thinks her father is having a breakdown.”
