Redstone Construction CEO Learns About Blue Envelope in Hospital Recovery Room

“The physical key is in my desk drawer at home,” I said.

“Then someone sat at your desk in Cherry Creek while you were on a gurney,” Brandon said, his voice dropping. “And they knew the password.”

I looked at the screen, the numbers blurring for a second. “Who is the registered agent for Apex?”

“A mail drop on South Broadway,” Brandon said. “No names listed on the state registry yet.”

“Let’s go home,” I said. “I need to see what else is missing from that desk.”

At ten o’clock that night, the Cherry Creek house was perfectly quiet. Nicole was upstairs in the guest room, having insisted that I needed the master bed to recover without her moving around.

I walked down the dark hallway to my study, my socks silent on the oak floor. The smell of fresh pine framing from the RiNo site still clung to my jacket on the back of the chair.

I sat at the heavy mahogany desk and pulled open the bottom drawer where I kept my personal files. My fingers searched the folders, looking for the blue envelope Dr. Mercer had whispered about in the pre-op room.
