Boston Mother Cancels Twenty Two Million Dollar Wedding Gift After Morning Betrayal
Victoria did not look at him, her gaze still fixed on the paused image of her brother’s face on the tablet screen.
“A six hundred dollar silver wig was my surprise, Michael,” I said, touching my collarbone where the heavy blue silk met my skin.
“She wanted you to stay home, Beatrice,” Victoria said, her sweet tone completely gone now as she rotated her engagement ring around her finger. “You were going to ruin the wedding anyway, always looking down at my family, always making us feel like we were begging for your scraps.”
“So you had your brother shave my head,” I said.
“It was just to keep you in the house for one day,” Victoria said, her voice rising. “We needed that twenty-two million dollars to clear the construction debts on the house in Wellesley, and we knew you would hold it over our heads forever if you showed up.”
“You have no right to my money,” I said.
Michael stepped closer, his face pale in the light of the dining room chandelier.
