Boston Mother Cancels Twenty Two Million Dollar Wedding Gift After Morning Betrayal
“Normally, three business days,” Mr. Vance said. “The server in Chicago has to verify the digital signatures of the cards.”
“That is unacceptable,” I said. “I need the results before Monday morning.”
Mr. Vance stopped typing and looked at me. “An expedited search requires our lab team to work through the weekend, Mrs. Vance.”
“My name is Beatrice,” I said, my voice sharp. “And I am prepared to pay for the rush.”
“It will be an additional forty-five hundred dollars,” Mr. Vance said.
“Authorize the payment, Avery,” I said.
Avery nodded and reached for his leather binder to make a note. “I will handle the billing directly through the firm.”
We returned to the study at nine, leaving the digital cables connected to the panel in the pantry. Avery sat across from me, the red binders of my estate plan lying between us.
“If the report names Michael, Beatrice, what is your plan?” Avery asked, his voice low.
“I will remove him from the estate entirely,” I said.
“He is your only son,” Avery said. “Perhaps we should wait until we have the complete picture before making such a drastic decision.”
