“We also have a report that your hair was removed against your will on Saturday morning,” Finch said, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. “Is it true that an intruder entered your Beacon Hill home?”

My breath caught in my throat, but I forced my spine straight and touched my collarbone. “I have no comment on gossip, Miss Finch.”

“We have an email from an address registered to a Julian Kelly,” Finch pressed. “He claims to have firsthand knowledge of your condition.”

“Julian Kelly is a disgruntled former acquaintance of my son,” I said. “His statements have no legal or factual basis.”

“He claims there is a video,” Finch said.

“If there is a video, it was taken without my consent inside my private residence,” I said. “Any publication of such material will be met with immediate legal action from my firm.”

“If these reports are false, Mrs. Vance, will you be appearing at the harbor development meeting tomorrow morning?”

“I will be exactly where I am expected to be,” I said.

I hung up the receiver before she could ask another question.
