Boston Mother Cancels Twenty Two Million Dollar Wedding Gift After Morning Betrayal

“Just trash,” Michael said, his tone turning fast and apologetic as he stuffed the receipt deep into his pocket. “Anyway, Victoria has been trying so hard to make things right.”

“Has she?” I asked.

“She spent hours preparing for the wedding,” he said. “She even went to that luxury salon on Newbury Street the afternoon before we got married, just to make sure she looked perfect for your guests.”

“The afternoon before?” I asked.

“Yes,” he said. “She was there for three hours.”

My mind held the image of the luxury salon, wondering what exactly Victoria had purchased there the day before my hair was taken from me.

“She wanted to impress you, Mother,” Michael said. “She really did.”

“I am rarely impressed by expensive appointments, Michael,” I said.

“I know,” he said, his shoulders dropping. “But she is trying.”

He leaned forward, his hands flat on the polished table. “If the bank transfer doesn’t clear by tomorrow, we lose the deposit on the Beacon Street property.”

“Avery is looking into the paperwork,” I said.
