Four Minute Phone Call Exposed My Husband and My Best Friend
“That is Richard’s handwriting,” I said, my voice thin in the drafty room. “He didn’t even try to disguise it.”
“He didn’t think he had to,” James said, leaning forward. “He used your personal Visa card, the one linked to your secondary household account. The boutique’s system accepted the payment because he had the billing zip code and the three-digit security code from the back of the card. He must have taken it out of your wallet while you were sleeping.”

“Yes,” James said, pulling a second document from the manila folder. “And he did it from the IP address at your Queen Anne house. I have the digital log right here. While you were upstairs in bed, he was sitting at his laptop, buying three thousand dollars of nursery furniture for another woman with your money.”
“And the bank accounts?” I asked, looking up from the paper. “The ones he froze yesterday?”
