William Edwards Leaves His Screaming Son on a Friday Afternoon in Hartford
“Go ahead and file it, Sue,” Karen said, her voice flat and steady. “But if you or your daughter attempt to contact the preschool, or if you come within one hundred feet of Owen, I will have the Hartford police department serve you with a warrant for custodial interference. That is a class D felony in Connecticut, and it carries up to five years in a state penitentiary.”
Sue did not blink, but her jaw tightened until the skin around her chin turned white.
“My daughter has rights to her own child,” Sue said. “A child who needs structured, professional discipline, not the indulgence of an unstable schoolteacher.”
“Your daughter signed a contract to ship her five-year-old son to an unlicensed facility in Idaho under a false name,” Karen said, stepping closer to Sue. “The state licensing board already knows about your suspended nursing license from 2018, and by noon tomorrow, the state’s attorney will have a copy of the New Horizons enrollment contract.”
